This is my new favorite summer drink. It’s so simple you can literally whip it up in about 5 minutes flat.
There are only two ingredients (more if you make your lemonade from scratch) and the taste is so refreshing. The first time I tried this was at a gathering a few weeks ago. Everyone who tasted it tried to guess what herbs were used in the recipe. We figured mint was a star ingredient. Nope, not so much. When we were told it was simply fresh basil, I for one, was pumped! Basil is one of my favorite herbs that I always have on hand. Yesterday I purchased a medium sized bottle of Organic Honest Lemonade and made this delicious Basil Lemonade. Feel free to play around with ratios of basil to lemonade to suit your taste.
Ingredients:
- One bunch of fresh basil (about 1 cup)
- One container of lemonade (or fresh squeezed lemonade)
Throw your basil into a blender or Vitamix. Add a tiny bit of lemonade to cover some of the basil leaves.
Blend away until basil is as fine as you can get it. Strain basil leaf liquid into your vessel of choice.
It will be a really pretty green color. Seriously vibrant.
Pour into serving glasses full of ice and garnish with a basil leaf and fresh lemon and lime slices.
This basil lemonade is a great drink to serve while entertaining guests. It’s something a little bit different with a super fresh taste. Enjoy!
